In November 2012, Raw Materials Company and Corus Entertainment in Kingston Ontario began a partnership to help raise additional funds for one of Corus Entertainment’s preferred charities; Clothes for KIDS.

Every year for the past 25 years leading up to Christmas, Corus Entertainment and its partners band together with the community to raise funds to ensure that children in need have warm clothes for winter. The charity receives great support from individuals, groups and workplaces throughout Kingston who kindly donate snowsuits and the necessary funds to purchase them. Since November 2012, Raw Materials Company has donated .25 cents for every pound of batteries collected from the public facing recycling locations at each of the three Canadian Tire stores in Kingston.

So far, approximately 15,000 lbs of batteries have been collected for proper recycling, but more importantly $3,750 has been raised for the Clothes for KIDS charity to date. Next time you plan to make a trip to any of the Canadian Tire stores in Kingston, please take your dead batteries with you and place them into the collection containers provided at the store for proper recycling.

Christmas is only three months away, so please share this post with your friends so that every child in need can have warm clothes this winter.
